Homoeopathic
remedies
for wildlife
These
remedies can be given alone: i.e.when the patient is not in captivity
and
comes to you for food and water, or in addition to
antibiotics and other drugs
prescribed while being treated in a rescue centre.
Most common homoeopathic remedies are
available in tablet form at the 6th or 30th potency from high street
chemists and health food shops.
Less commonly used remedies and higher potencies are available as
liquids or tablets from Homoeopathic Pharmacies..
General guidelines
Homoeopathic medicines differ from orthodox medicines in that most of
the medication is on the
outside of
the tablets.
Do not handle the tablets.
Tip one into a clean teaspoon and crush with
another teaspoon, then sprinkle on food or into water.
Mother tinctures are (almost) always diluted before use on skin and
ALWAYS diluted before being used on the eyes.
For skin: 1 drop mother tincture to 10
drops water
For eyes: 1 drop mother tincture to 250ml water
Acute
conditions:
shock, open wounds, abscess etc.
Give a dose every hour for 3-4 doses, then 3 times daily with feeds
Chronic
conditions:
mange, bad limp, cough, lack of condition etc.
Give daily, twice weekly or weekly treatments.
Storage
Medicines will last for years if stored in a dark, cool, dry
place.
They must be kept away from strong chemicals and strongly smelling
bleach, disinfectant etc. as these will cancel their effect.
Stockists of Homoeopathic Remedies
Chemists and Health Food shops have a good range of remedies and are
sometimes willing to order anything they don't stock.
Homoeopathic Pharmacies can supply all the remedies. If you search
the web you can find a number of places who can help.
I have found Helios to be particularly helpful and quick. Order online
